Tried to rent a bike on a Saturday evening. Should have researched further as they required 2 day rentals on a Saturday as they are closed on a Sunday. I asked if they have a drop off on Sundays but they were not very welcoming or helpful when I asked. I told them I only needed the rental for Sunday for a 7 hour tour and I could bring it back Monday morning, they didn't seem interested. I told them it would have been $150 Canadian for a 1 day rental, no thanks. For a rental/bike shop in the low season you would think they had better customer service. I won't return.
Total price at the end was almost as much as the bike originally cost. You know the joke that mechanics can always find something wrong with a car? That's what happened with the bike. We went in for one thing and ended up with five things wrong. Rode the bike one day and suddenly two flat tires... front riding on pavement. If it ain't broke... they still find something wrong. But like the name says, they're the only bike shop in South Maui... so...
Great staff, friendly service and awesome bike! Also a fair bit cheaper than their competitors and have a lot more knowledge about the bikes!
If you want to rent a bike here during the busy holiday season, do the following: 1. READ their website VERY carefully. They reserve rentals ONLY for the week. Their website rental page may show bikes available, but only on the weekly basis. While those may be available by the week. when its busy, their availability for shorter periods, if at all, is doubtful. They were kind enough to ask for my name and phone # to call me if one of their daily rentals becomes available. I didn't find out if once I get one whether I could get the weekly rate or not. 2. Bottom line. If you want one, book ahead as far out as possible. Keep in mind bikes are in high demand during the holiday season, at all the Maui bike shops.
Rented a 54cm bike for two days in May 2016. Had the option between Felt and Cervelo. Bike was in good shape. Be sure to call ahead to make sure they have a bike available for you so you won't be disappointed. Great advice on Haleakala and West Maui Loop.
