Overall a very disappointing experience at the Kihei location...it feels like I'm a patron of a 1980's library system. Old books, horrible hours (closed a lot) and the staff is crabby. They just don't seem friendly and won't go out of their way...at all. Also, why do patrons have to pay $1.00 for DVD's? Disappointing experience overall...wish the system was like it is in most places on the mainland where there are better hours, more book selection, free DVD check-outs and happier staff...perhaps they need more state funds? On the plus side...it is right by the beach:)
A great little library, it's Aircon water fountain bathrooms, comfy chairs internet stations and you can order books from other libraries on Maui through this library! The staff is also very wonderful and they hold community events here also.
We were in the neighborhood, so we stopped in to use their internet service. It was quick and easy to sign on to the internet with my Hawaii Library Card number and we finished out task quickly. The library was quiet and spacious and had ample parking.
I enjoy coming here, but overall it is a mediocre library. The selection of books is okay, the hours are strange but fine, and the staff is a mixture between good and bad people. The atmosphere is great and same with the general location and for a place in Hawai'i it is kept relatively clean.
