Just moved back to Kihei and wanted to buy a bike while saving for a car. Stopped into boss frogs and saw they had two used bikes in our price range. We wanted to make sure the bikes we bought were the right fit and value so we returned three separate times to test ride and talk about the bikes with bike tech Joe. He was super friendly and informative and when we finally purchased the bike he lubed it all up and threw a basket on it! Thanks boss frogs! We'll be back!!
On Dec. 24, 2016 I reserved a bike online for Dec. 27, 2016 I received an automated email indicating the reservation for that date and location. Today I went to the store and was first told that they had NO reservation SYSTEM for the type of bike I'd reserved. I was asked if I'd received an email confirmation, but I was at the store and didn't have my computer, so I wasn't sure. Later I called the main office and they couldn't find my reservation. When I returned to my condo and computer, I found the confirmation and called them back with the order info. They still didn't have it and when I requested a better bike for the same rate (since they had rented out all of the style I'd reserved.) They offered only $30 off which was still well above the price I'd been offered. They claim they are fixing their system, but according to the clerks at the store in S. Kihei, they haven't taken reservations for the hybrid bikes for at least two years. This might be a good place to reserve bikes in the slow season, but during the holidays when they are busy, do NOT count on getting a bike.
Overall I had a great experience and thought the price was reasonable (much cheaper than other cycle shops on the island). I will definitely be using them again on future trips to Maui.
Dano was a great help getting our snorkel gear for the week. Our 3rd trip to Maui and our 3rd trip to Boss Frogs. We have always been given excellent service, can't go wrong with Boss Frogs. Thanks again Dano for top notch personal service, will recommend to friends.
I rented from the Kihei shop 2 times this year on vacation in the spring and again just a couple weeks ago and had a great experience both times. They were quick to get me the right kind of bike for my ride (I am somewhat newer to rode riding) and were very friendly with good service. I got the Cannondale Synapse both times as I rode 75+ miles on the West Maui Loop (highly recommend!) and then about 55 miles for a ride upcountry through Paia toward the volcano.
$5 a day MANDATORY damage waiver is added to your bill. This is not clearly disclosed on their website and bring the total price above other shops in the area.
