Really soft sand. Nice curve and slope of the beach. U can go pretty far before it gets deep. No big waves. And no sang getting in your under pants by the shore when u walk out. Strongly suggest this one for parents with kids.
We came on a Sunday during September and it was busy but not dramatically full of people (we were still able to find a parking spot on the street).
Overall we had a good experience at this beach and would recommend it to others.
We saw three sea turtles, one of which was giant!
Excellent beach. One of the best we have found in South Maui. Good snorkeling in a reef immediately off the south end. Lots of turtles. Some shade at the South End which is unusual for a Maui Beach. Easy parking at both ends. Has bathrooms and showers.
The waves can get pretty rough, however I guess it depends on the day and the season. We came back two days later and were pretty disappointed with the visibility the second time around - so I guess it just depends on the day you go!
We really liked this beach for the snorkelling.
Great beach. Bring snorkeling gear to see the vivid reaf. If you are there make sure you shower very well, the sand isn't small enough to get rinsed out the first time through.
Park on the south side of the Beach near Maluaka Place, there a lot more parking spots down there. Plus the beach is better and not as steep down on the south side.
Also, the current can be pretty strong so you should be relatively careful. When the waves are rough and the current is strong, it makes it a bit difficult to relax near the shore in the water. There are corals almost right away so you have to be cautious.
There is also limited shade, so umbrellas should be brought.
