We met up with Ed at 7:15am, at a spot we were informed about the evening before. It was us and a family of four in the same group. After a great lesson in marine life and the kind of fish we might see that day (involving picture books and fun trivia), we waded into the ocean and began the tour. Ed led us through a whole wonderful series of reefs and underwater life, ending in a spot that was filled with sea turtles! We then made our way back to the beach after spending about 1.5 hours in the water.
We had a blast on this snorkel tour! Communication before the tour was over text--very thorough and clear on what we needed to expect and do to prepare for the tour. Our guide was Toby and he did a fabulous job of making us feel comfortable and welcome. He was very personable and friendly. The guide checks weather and wind for the best spots to snorkel the day before the tour, so that pretty much guaranteed that we would go to a great spot. Toby gave a thorough review of all the different fishes and coral we would see in the ocean, and although my husband just wanted to get in the water I feel like knowing what fish to look for really enhanced our experience. I am glad we chose to do a tour for our first time snorkeling in Maui, because I know we would not have found a more beautiful spot. Toby made us feel safe while we were in the water; he kept a boogie board in the water that we could hold onto if we got too tired to swim. One lady in our tour group got sea sick and held onto the board the whole way back to the shore. My favorite part was swimming directly over a sea turtle when a huge school of fish swam around us for like five minutes! Beautiful snorkeling!! Oh, and our tour guide brought lots of snacks and homemade bread and fresh pineapple for after the tour. Always a +1 :)
We were lucky enough to see some amazing fish and coral, and Ed even took some fantastic pictures of us in the water for no added charge!
WOW!!!! This was our first activity we did on Maui and it was OUTSTANDING! I did research and I have done the boat snorkel tours and this was far better. We had the owner Suzy all to ourselves and she was informative, kind, extremely helpful, and made us feel safe the entire time. I would have never guessed we could see so much without being on a boat. Pick this tour over the boat, it's so much better!
My husband and I chose Maui Snorkel Tours for our first ever snorkeling experience and it was one of the best decisions we made on our trip! We were in Maui in early April, and opted for Maui Snorkel because we liked the idea of a smaller group and not being in a spot filled with a bunch of other snorkelers, scaring away all the fish. And it truly lived up to all the expectation!

We met at a spot not too far from where we were staying and we couldn’t believe the amount of fish and sea life that were so close to shore!! This was a trip we’ll never forget. We booked a private tour with this company from Canada as we were on a Hawaiian cruise. Paula was very helpful in booking for us and setting everything up and answering all of my questions. Ed was our guide that day and he made our experience unforgettable. His knowledge of the sea life and his patience with 2 of us 1 being a non swimmer was amazing.
